What this program is
Family-Type Homes for Adults (FTHA) are state-licensed residential homes for adults who need support with daily living but don't need medical or nursing care. Think of it as a home-like setting with the extra help you need.
Who can get it
You must meet these basic requirements:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Need help with daily living tasks (you can't live independently without support)

If you have certain diagnoses, you also need to:
- Attend a day treatment program (if you've been diagnosed with a developmental disability or mental illness)
- Be at least five years clean or sober (if you have a history of substance abuse)
You won't qualify for FTHAs if you:
- Are wheelchair-bound or bed-ridden
- Have a history of substance abuse (unless you're five years clean or sober)
