What this program is
SNAP (food stamps) gives you money on a card to buy groceries at stores and farmers markets.
Who can get it
SNAP eligibility is primarily based on:
- How much money you earn
- How many people are in your household
Heads up
- Use the Cash Assistance application on ACCESS HRA (https://a069-access.nyc.gov/accesshra/) to apply for Cash Assistance, SNAP, and Medicaid at once
- You do not need to apply for SNAP separately if youve applied for Cash Assistance
- It can take up to 30 days to hear back about your SNAP application
- If you're approved, you'll get your EBT card within 5 business days
- Certain non-citizens may be eligible for SNAP

How to apply
Online
- Apply online using ACCESS HRA (https://a069-access.nyc.gov/ACCESSNYC/application.do) apply for Cash Assistance, SNAP, and Medicaid with a single application
- Complete an interview
- Submit your documents
- Check ACCESS HRA (https://a069-access.nyc.gov/ACCESSNYC/application.do) for your application status you will receive a decision within 30 days
- Get an EBT card in the mail up to five business days after your application is approved
To keep getting benefits, report any changes to your income, savings, address, or who lives with you and respond to any recertification notices as soon as possible.
In person
Visit an HRA SNAP Center (https://www1.nyc.gov/site/hra/locations/snap-locations.page) or a community-based organization (https://www.nyc.gov/site/hra/partners/find-a-partner-organization.page) in your neighborhood. Enrollment specialists can help you submit your application and the necessary documents.
By mail
Print a paper application (http://otda.ny.gov/programs/applications/4826.pdf) at home, pick one up from a SNAP Center (https://www1.nyc.gov/site/hra/locations/snap-locations.page), or call the HRA Infoline at 718-557-1399 to have a paper application mailed to you
