What this program is

New York State's earned income credit is a tax credit for working individuals and families. The credit amount varies by family size and earnings and phases out at higher income levels.

Who can get it

The NYS Tax Department states you may be entitled to claim this credit if you did not claim the Noncustodial parent earned income credit, and you qualified for and claimed the federal earned income credit. The credit is generally equal to 30% of your allowable federal earned income credit, reduced by the amount of any household credit. For full-year residents the credit is fully refundable.

How to apply

Claim the credit on your New York State tax return; the rules and details are on the official page.
