What this program is
A credit on NYC water and sewer bills for eligible low-income homeowners. Credits totalling $191.00 appear on the first DEP bill after they are applied. You do not have to enroll.
Who can get it
NYC DEP states homeowners are eligible if their property is a one, two, three or four family home AND they:
- received a HEAP Regular Heating Benefit for the 2025–2026 heating season, OR
- had an approved Senior Citizens Homeowners Exemption (SCHE) from NYC DOF as of March 2026, OR
- had an approved Disabled Homeowners Exemption (DHE) from NYC DOF as of March 2026, OR
- had an approved Veteran's Exemption 2026.
How to apply
No application: eligible customers automatically receive the credit on their water and sewer account. For bill questions, contact DEP Customer Service.
